Cooking Directions:

Follow these simple steps to grill your Shrimp skewer to perfection. The secret for the success of this recipe is the seasoning. Choose for each skewer one or more seasonings and use them to flavor the shrimps while on the grill and right before serving. You can find some seasoning suggestions below or make your own.

Choosing the Seasoning:

Curried Seasoning: Ahead of cooking, prepare in a small bowl a mix of vegetable oil, salt, pepper and red curry (you can use paprika instead). Use the curried seasoning to flavor the shrimps while cooking. Before serving you can either dip the shrimps in this seasoning or in red curry powder, according to your preferences.

Oregano Seasoning: Ahead of cooking, prepare in a small bowl a mix of vegetable oil, salt, pepper and oregano. Use the oregano seasoning to flavor the shrimps while cooking. Before serving you can either dip the shrimps in this seasoning or in dried oregano, according to your preferences.

Spicy Seasoning: Ahead of cooking, prepare in a small bowl a mix of vegetable oil, salt, pepper and crushed hot peppers or hot chili powder. Use this spicy seasoning to season the shrimps while cooking. Before serving you can either dip the shrimps in this seasoning or in chili powder, according to your preferences.

Basil and Lemon Seasoning: Ahead of cooking, prepare in a small bowl a mix of vegetable oil, salt, basil and lemon juice. Use this seasoning to season the shrimps while cooking. Before serving dip the shrimps in this seasoning.

Grilling the Shrimp Skewers:

Clean, peel and devein the shrimps.

Thread shrimp tightly on to skewers.

Heat the grill and place the shrimp skewers to grill for about 4 minutes or until the bottom side turns pinkish. With a cooking brush, lightly flavor with the seasoning of your choice.

Flip the skewers and cook for additional 3-4 minutes. Brush with seasoning for best flavor.

When ready, remove from heat and quickly dip them into the seasoning of your choice just before serving.

Tips:

If your grilling event is outdoor, you can prepare the seasoning at home and bring them with you in plastic containers. If you plan using powdered or dried seasonings to dip your shrimps, just put them in small freezing bags and spread them on a plastic dish to easily dip your grilled shrimp skewers.
